Kingdom Season 5 Teaser Trailer Released

After multiple promotional visuals and cast announcements, the upcoming fifth season of Kingdom has finally received a (teaser) trailer. Despite the “teaser” label, the promotional video clocks in at over 90 seconds.

Kingdom Season 5 is set to premiere in Japan on January 6 (effectively January 7 at 12 AM JST). The first season of the anime, which is based on the Shueisha-published Warring States period-set manga by Yasuhisa Hara, began airing in 2012, while the fourth season debuted in 2022. Crunchyroll describes the anime as:

Shin and Hyou are war-orphans in the kingdom of Qin. They dream of proving themselves on the battlefield until the day Hyou is captured by a minister. The boy manages to escape and return to his village, but he is badly injured. Shin then meets a mysterious youth who bears an eerie resemblance to Hyou—a boy who will one day become emperor!

The Kingdom manga started its serialization in Weekly Young Jump all the way back in 2006 and has 70 tankoubon volumes as of November 2023. Anime aside, it has also inspired live-action film adaptations. The third and most recent of the live-action flicks hit Japan theaters on July 28.
