The film will follow Gege Akutami’s “Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School” manga, which is a prequel of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series and centers on Yuta Okkotsu.

The manga first appeared in Jump GIGA in 2017. Akutami created the series with the intention of it being a short series. It concluded after four issues of Jump Giga and the series was more popular than expected.

Due to the popularity and the desire from fans to release a serialized manga, the sequel series “Jujutsu Kaisen” was picked up by Weekly Shonen Jump. Following Jujutsu Kaisen’s release, all of the chapters of the prequel series were compiled and released as Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 0.
